Some of Santorini's best sights are lined up in this afternoon trip which includes the ancient village of Mesa Gonia, Pyrgos at the highest point on the island and beautiful Oia – one of the most photographed places in Greece.

First up is Mesa Gonia. This tiny village is the oldest on the island and is surrounded by vineyards. From there, you'll drive to Pyrgos, Santorini's former capital. This pretty place is all sugar-cube houses, neo-classical mansions and narrow lanes twisting up to a Venetian castle, which offers up fabulous island views.

Afterwards, you'll get to sample some local wines in a secluded spot with sea views, before heading for Santorini's star turn – Oia. Perched on a clifftop, this hip-and-happening whitewashed village serves up amazing views over the caldera, making it the perfect spot to catch a blazing Greek sunset. It's spectacular stuff.

Santorini Volcanic Islands Cruise

The volcanic isles of the caldera are a must-see when in Santorini. On this full-day cruise, you'll climb aboard a wooden sailboat and glide to Nea Kameni, Palea Kameni and Thirassia – the three volcanic islets that breach from the water – and continue along the edge of the caldera.First up is Nea Kameni. Hike up to its crater, striding over solidified lava fields to see its steamy fumes. Take in the views over the harsh, moon-like landscapes and Santorini in the distance. Next, you'll cruise to the thermal springs of Palea Kameni, where you'll get the chance to swim in the mineral-rich waters, which can reach temperatures of 35 °C.
