Petani Beach is picturesque but on the day we visited, the sea was ferocious and it felt dangerous for the children (8 and 9, both accomplished swimmers) to play in the surf, let alone try to swim in the bay. Seaweed everywhere, majority of the beach was very stony. Local tradespeople were not friendly. I had to apologise to my family for booking this, not terrible but with hindsight we would have been better off having another day at nearby Xi Beach.
What could be nicer than a sun-drenched escape to Petani Beach on the Paliki peninsula? Known as one of Kefalonia's best beaches, Petani is all gleaming white pebbles and clear azure waters. It's a natural masterpiece where you can swim in the Ionian Sea and relax to the sound of waves. As well as taking in the views and enjoying the water, there are beachside tavernas where you can choose to enjoy Greek cuisine or unwind over a drink.
