Beskrivelse

You can expect dollops of déjà vu and nostalgia on this full day cruise. It takes in the sights made famous by the hit musical Mamma Mia! You'll set sail aboard a traditional fishing boat, visiting some of the best beaches in Skopelos. This tiny Aegean island was where Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, Stellan Skarsgård et al sang their way into our hearts.

It all kicks off when we sail from Skiathos port on a northeasterly course for neighbouring Skopelos. First, we'll head for the beach of Kastani, where Mamma Mia! was filmed in 2007. Then, it's just a few minutes' sailing to the neighbouring beach of Panormos, in time for lunch at one of the beach tavernas. Or, if you prefer, you can sunbathe and swim.

The last stop is the beautiful beach of Milia for a final dip in the sea before getting back on board for the leisurely cruise back to Skiathos.

Vasilis, one of our expert guides, says, ‘Only a few steps from the centre of town are hidden corners, with beautiful churches and peaceful cobbled streets. Skiathos played a hugely symbolic role in Greece's fight for independence – our first flag was raised here in 1807.'Next, we'll swing by the Skiathitiko Spiti – an old home-turned-museum where you'll get a feel for how islanders lived back in the day. After a nose around, we'll sip a little local liqueur made by the owner – trust us, it's a treat. Then it's on to the maze-like Plakes quarter, with its narrow lanes and timeworn houses, bright splashes of bougainvillea and classic blue shutters. Limnia is next, where you'll have the chance to pop into either Panagia Limnia or the Holy Trinity Church – both full of stories and island spirit.We'll follow a coastal path down to the Old Port, soaking up the sea views before heading back towards the start. But not before one final stop – the House of Alexandros Papadiamantis, one of Greece's literary legends. Just next door is Café Nostalgos – said to be his old haunt – where we'll wrap up the tour with a drink and some dreamy views.
