Beskrivelse

Herma our guide (apologies if the spelling isn’t correct!) was amazing! I can honestly say she was the best guide we have ever had and we have been on a fair few trips, having been to Lanzarote several times. So informative and helpful and the trip we felt was excellent value for money. Thanks also to the coach driver Rafa for doing such a sterling job!

Tour was very good and interesting. At times it took a long time to leave the bus and we then found the guide had gone off and we had to search for her. On one visit, she had entered the venue and we and another couple were left outside. Not very happy. We were lucky that a staff member let us enter. Perhaps the guide should ensure all passengers are off the bus before moving on as some of the people were slow moving.

Northern Lanzarote tour with Green Caves and Jameos del Agua

Larger-than-life Lanzarote legend Cesar Manrique left his imprint all over the island, but nowhere more so than the north. The architect was inspired by the region's extraordinary geology. This tour takes in three of his works – the Green Caves, Jameos del Agua and Mirador del Rio. David, one of our local guides, says, ‘The north of the island was a canvas for Manrique's palette. As he used to say, “the north is still the traditional Lanzarote.”First up are the Green Caves, where a maze of galleries and stairways lead you to a natural auditorium. These caverns – 16 have been discovered so far – are air bubbles that are linked by a tunnel created by the lava flow from a volcanic eruption. Manrique was instrumental in adapting the cave system for visitors. His influence is even more pronounced in the Jameos del Agua. Here, he harmonised this roofless volcanic cave, adding rock gardens and a glassy lake, filled with blind, white crabs found only in Lanzarote. Also on the agenda is Mirador del Rio, one of Manrique's most sci-fi creations. Not only does this viewpoint blend in seamlessly with its surroundings atop a 470m cliff, but it boasts wow-factor vistas across to the island of La Graciosa. Next, you'll head to Haria, an oasis of green known as the “Valley of a Thousand Palms,” scattered with whitewashed houses and surrounded by peaks. Here, you'll sit down for a lunch made from locally sourced ingredients in a typical Canarian house.

Guided wine-tasting tour of three Lanzarote vineyards

Guided wine-tasting tour of three Lanzarote vineyards

Lanzarote's mineral-rich volcanic soils are the key to its excellent wines. This morning tour takes you to three wineries to sample some of their award-winning organic wines. Plus, you'll also visit the Monumento del Campesino to see the famous farmer's monument. Teresa, one of our expert local guides, says, ‘Our island's wines are the fruit of our ingenuity in harnessing the destruction wrought by Mother Nature into an art – a common thread that weaves together islander and landscape.'After pick-up, you'll head straight for the Monumento del Campesino, designed by legendary Lanzarote architect Cesar Manrique. Built in his trademark style that fused whitewashed structures with volcanic bubbles and exotic plants, it's a joy to explore. Then, it's off to the family-owned Bodega La Geria. Here, vines are shielded from the winds by horseshoe-shaped stone walls, while the humidity retained by the ash helps them grow in this harsh climate. Enjoy a guided tour of the winery and taste some of its prized Malvasia wines.Next, nestled at the base of the Juan Bello volcano, you'll visit Bodega Los Bermejos. This boutique winery is famed for its artisanal approach, crafting exceptional wines from indigenous grape varieties like Malvasía Volcánica and Diego. Rounding off the tour is Bodega Suarez, a charming winery that offers visitors an authentic taste of the island's unique wine culture. Here, you'll indulge in the perfect pairing of cheese with two wines.

Discover the island's spectacular green north and the volcanic south, visiting Timanfaya National Park, Jameos del Agua caves and a winery along the way.The fun starts with a trip to the subterranean salt lake at Jameos del Agua. This ancient volcanic cavern was converted into a bar and concert space by local architectural legend, Cesar Manrique. After lunch, you'll get to find out how grapes are grown at a volcanic soil winery. You'll sample one-of-a-kind local wines from La Geria, a unique wine-growing region created after the Timanfaya volcanic eruptions 300 years ago. Next up is the Salinas de Janubio salt flats where traditional methods are still in use. Seawater enters shallow basins, evaporates under the sun, and workers harvest the salt manually. These salt flats are a haven for migratory and coastal bird species. Thanks to its otherworldly natural landscape, Lanzarote was declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 1993. Star turns include the historic ‘Raven's Volcano', a visitors' centre, the El Femés viewpoint, and, of course, a camel ride. Marian, one of our local guides, says, "you get to enter a volcano crater – it's a truly spine-tingling experience – while the camel ride gives you time to absorb the lunar landscape."First up is the Volcan del Cuervo, or ‘Raven's Volcano'. Located on the edge of Timanfaya National Park, it breaches from a landscape of jet-black soot. It was here that the volcanic eruptions that created Timanfaya began in 1730. Towering walls surround the crater but for a gap seared open by a river of lava, which allows you into the base. Next, you'll zip over to the Mancha Blanca Visitors' and Interpretative Centre. With its vine-laden lava fields, exuberant architecture and otherworldly landscapes, Lanzarote looks and feels like something from a sci-fi movie set. This exclusive half-day tour takes in the Cesar Manrique Foundation and his Cactus Garden, followed by a visit to LagOmar. Rosa, one of our expert local guides, says, ‘Manrique convinced his fellow islanders to invest in tourism without overdevelopment, making sure any human impact is in harmony with our volcanic landscapes.'Manrique was admired by many in his lifetime, and his influence on Lanzarote's culture lives on. He was a versatile artist producing paintings, sculptures and architectural works, bringing sustainability to the forefront of his creations, long before it became a buzzword. You'll first tour his Jardín de Cactus, where 1,100 species of sculptural succulents are grown. You can see instantly how Manrique's skill and vision enhanced the barren landscape. Similarly, the Fundacion Cesar Manrique demonstrates that harmony between the built environment and nature can succeed. A visit to the artist's home-studio, built into a lava field, is ample proof. Your final stop of the tour will be at LagOmar, a stunning spot that seamlessly combines nature and art. Half-day guided volcano and wine tour in southern Lanzarote

Spend an afternoon in southern Lanzarote on this half-day guided tour, combining volcanic landscapes with local flavours. As your guide Carlos says, “southern Lanzarote's got a vibe all of its own, with lava cliffs, vineyards growing out of craters and sunsets that'll make you stop and stare.”You'll kick things off in the village of Yaiza, known for its traditional white buildings, palm-lined streets and quiet atmosphere. A stroll through the Plaza de los Remedios is the ideal introduction to this laidback, rural part of the island. Next, you'll take a look at the coastal scenery during a walk along Playa Montana Bermeja, where black volcanic sand meets the Atlantic Ocean. Then, swing by Bodega Suárez in La Geria, a charming, family-run winery offering more than just a taste. Surrounded by volcanic landscapes, it produces authentic wines using traditional methods, with vines grown in ash-filled hollows protected by stone walls. As Carlos puts it, “it's not just about sipping wine – it's about an immersive atmosphere where every detail from the décor to the story feels like stepping into a family archive, and where wine is made by hand with minimal intervention.” Finally, you'll wrap up your tour at Volcan del Cuervo, a volcanic crater in the middle of La Geria – AKA wine country. It's one of Lanzarote's most accessible volcanic sites – you can walk right into the crater – and was born during the massive Timanfaya eruptions that began in 1730. You'll arrive just before sunset, the perfect time to take it all in as the sun sets across the lava fields.

Northern Lanzarote tour with Jameos del Agua and Teguise

Mother Nature's imprint isn't the only one that looms large in Lanzarote. This half-day tour takes a close look at one of the island's most famous sons. You'll visit his Jameos del Agua and Mirador del Rio viewpoint. And you'll also discover the oldest town in the Canaries, Teguise. Cristina, one of our expert guides, says, ‘Local artist Cesar Manrique was to Lanzarote what Gaudi was to Barcelona. His architectural vision and activism left us a unique style in harmony with our volcanic landscapes and also helped preserve the island – he was opposed to high-rise hotels, so very few were built.'The discovery begins at the Manrique-designed complex built around the Jameos del Agua volcanic caves. He converted them into a nightclub in the 60s. The stage is still in use, but the stars nowadays are the rare white crabs in a saltwater pond. Next, we'll cut through dramatic volcanic landscapes to the Mirador del Rio – another Manrique masterpiece. At almost 500 metres above sea level, it offers unbeatable views over the island of La Graciosa and its volcanoes. After calling in at an Aloe Vera producer to learn the secrets of this versatile plant, you'll pass through a string of pretty villages en route to Teguise. As the former capital of the island, this history-steeped village boasts a number of eye-catching palaces, convents, chapels and churches – all within walking distance of each other. Enjoy free time to wander around and take snaps in the town's atmospheric centre.
