Beskrivelse

The Algarve is famed for its beautiful beaches, yet its countryside is also filled with little gems. On this exclusive tour, you'll head into the Monchique Mountains to visit the history-steeped towns of Silves and Monchique as well as Mt Foia. Plus, you'll taste some local treats along the way.

First up is Silves, in the heart of the orange-growing country at the foot of the highlands. You'll climb up its castle to admire the views, learn about its Moorish past and enjoy a cake and orange juice in its café. We'll then continue the excursion deep into the Monchique Mountains, where we'll stop in a restaurant for lunch.

Next is Mt Foia, the Algarve's highest point. Here, you can enjoy panoramic views over the countryside. You'll also drop into a shop for a liqueur tasting. Then, it's on to Monchique to explore its cobbled streets and traditional shops. Rounding off the day is Caldas de Monchique for a guided walk through a garden rich in the area's endemic trees as well as a mineral water tasting.

Guidad utflykt till Silves och Monchique-bergen i Portugal

Utflykt till Lissabon från Algarve med ledig tid

Få huvudstäder är så mångfacetterade som Lissabon. Från de tätt packade gränderna i gamla stan till de eleganta boulevarderna i Baixa Pombalina är det en stad full av charm och liv - och klassiska gula spårvagnar. Gonçalo, en av våra kunniga lokalguider, säger: "En stor del av Lissabon förstördes i jordbävningen 1755 och byggdes sedan om under markisen av Pombals ledning till den första staden med innovativa jordbävningsresistenta konstruktioner - därav dagens namn på stadsdelen: Baixa Pombalina.Vi börjar ganska tidigt, så att du kan nå Lissabon i god tid. Gör dig redo för en spektakulär utsikt över staden när du korsar den Golden Gate-liknande 25 april-bron över floden Tejo till strandpromenaden i stadsdelen Belém. Du kommer att få se Belémtornet, Upptäckarmonumentet och mycket mer. Gonçalo berättar: ”Belémtornet byggdes i början av 1500-talet och är en ikonisk symbol för Portugals upptäckternas tidsålder. En gång i tiden stod det på en liten ö nära flodstranden, men eftersom flodens lopp ändrades står det nu nära stranden. Under årens lopp har den fungerat som en försvarspunkt, en fyr, ett tullhus och till och med ett fängelse.Därefter åker du buss för sightseeing och passerar bland annat Basilica Estrela. Din guide kommer sedan att peka ut de bästa områdena i staden att kolla in under din lediga tid - oavsett om du föredrar att shoppa, äta middag eller bara promenera gator kantade med imponerande byggnader från Portugals kejserliga dagar. Du återvänder till Algarve via Vasco da Gama-bron - den längsta i Europa.
