Beskrivning

If you're looking for a little laidback luxury in the Caribbean, then this daytrip needs to be at the top of your to-do list. Just an hour down the coast from Cancun, you'll catch the ferry over to Cozumel Island and KUZA Beach & Adventure Park.

Your deluxe day pass to the club begins with a two-hour guided snorkelling trip at some of Mexico's most spectacular reefs. Start with the gentle shallows and colourful coral gardens of Columbia Reef, then move onto the more dramatic underwater landscapes of Palancar Reef, where the corals create a bed of tunnels and towers. Tropical fish, like parrotfish and angelfish, and even sea turtles and lobsters are often spotted around here. Then, as the El Cielito sandbar comes into view, you'll see bright red and orange starfish scattering the seabed.

Once you're back at the club, which has the largest private beachfront on the island, you can relax on the loungers, grab a cocktail and tuck into the open buffet that's bursting with bold Mexican flavours. There'll be live music and performances throughout the day to keep you entertained, plus there's a shaded kids' playground with tram rides and interactive games. But if sitting around isn't your style, your pass includes another activity of either paddle-boarding, kayaking or a second round of snorkelling. Plenty to keep you busy until you're dropped back at your hotel in the early evening.

Private Holbox Island boat and buggy tour in Mexico

Holbox Island is a holiday within a holiday. On this private tour, you'll visit Isla Pasion on a boat trip, enjoy lunch at a five-star eco resort and enjoy a golf buggy tour of the island. Ariel, one of our local guides on this tour, says, ‘Holbox is a habitat for more than 300 endemic and migratory bird species. It's also something of a playground, with activities such as speedboats and beach buggies.'Board your boat at Chiquila – piloted by a local fisherman – and be whisked off on a two-hour coastal tour. Every other company uses the local ferry. Your guide will point out places known for their wildlife – some 150 bird species have been spotted on the island – and explain what efforts are being made to preserve this habitat. For three decades, Holbox has been part of Yum Balam Nature Reserve. And if you're doing the tour between June and September, you may be lucky enough to catch sight of the island's flamboyant flamingos.Plus, you'll discover the beauty of the secluded beaches of tiny Isla Pasion – Holbox itself boasts 36km of white-sand strands – before heading to the eco-resort for lunch followed by downtime on the sunloungers. Once your batteries are recharged, you'll hop into a golf buggy -the island's 1,000 residents don't use cars – for some fun exploring the surrounding area. To round off your visit to the island, we'll make our way to Holbox's main square for some free time – it's a great opportunity to pick up some souvenirs or sample local food.
