Att göra – Kölnerdomen
Kölnerdomen är stadens mest kända landmärke och Tysklands mest besökta turistattraktion. Katedralen förklarades som ett UNESCO-världsarv 1996 och är ett känt monument för tysk katolicism och ar berömd för sin gotiska arkitektur.
Byggandet av katedralen började 1248 men stoppades helt på 1500-talet på grund av brist på medel. Byggnaden avbröts i nästan 300 år och katedralen slutfördes slutligen 1880, mer än 600 år efter att byggandet ursprungligen påbörjades.
Katedralen kan ses från nästan var som helst i staden eftersom den dominerar silhuetten med sin imponerande struktur och spira. Den näst högsta byggnaden i Köln idag, dess gigantiska torn svävar över hustaken i Köln på 157 meters höjd.
Besök katedralens insida och beundra de imponerande glasmålningarna som reflekterar sina livfulla färger i interiören. Upptäck de utsmyckade kapellen, altarna, vackra mosaikerna och gravarna som fyller katedralens inre. Besökare kan också gå upp i spiraltrappans 533 trappsteg till en utsiktsplattform och beundra panoramautsikten över Köln och floden Rhen.
Katedralen är öppen dagligen med öppettider beroende på säsong och/eller speciella evenemang. Katedralen är lättillgänglig med bil eller kollektivtrafik. Om du anländer med tunnelbana eller tåg, går du av vid hållplatsen "Dom/Hauptbahnhof" och katedralen ligger precis intill.
