Beskrivning

Denna vintertur tar dig till Pamukkale, som betyder "bomullsslott" på turkiska - och du kommer snart att se varför när du ser på detta magiska landskap. Du kommer också att besöka den intilliggande antika staden Hierapolis. Båda är UNESCO-listade, så du får två av Turkiets historiska pärlor till priset för en. Och som alla våra utflykter har vi kunniga lokalguider som känner till området utan och innan. Muzaffer, en av guiderna, säger följande: "Jag har många intressanta saker att berätta på den här utflykten som du inte kommer att höra någon annanstans."

Pamukkale är en syn du sent ska glömma, en serie av kalkstensterrasser där naturliga källor har bildat snövita bassänger och klippor. Effekten är säreget vacker – ett vinterlikt sagoland av platåer och naturliga pooler. Människor har badat här i tusentals år, inklusive romerska kejsare. Följ i deras fotspår och bada i en av termalpoolerna eller bara stå på toppen av Pamukkale och njut av den magnifika utsikten.

Sedan bär det av till ruinerna av det antika Hierapolis – en teater, begravningsplats, tempel, bad och mycket mer. Efter lunch har du ledig tid att bege dig till det arkeologiska museet eller ta ett dopp i Kleopatras bad, där du kommer att simma bland gamla kolonner. Och om du vill på vägen tillbaka, bjuds du på middag på en lokal skogsrestaurang.

The day was 14 hours long ?? 11 hours travelling and 3 hours at the site, the tour was excellent the ruins were exceptional, our guide was very good, the bad points the breakfast was served in a shed with water buckets hanging from the ceiling, the dinner on our way back was served in the same shed and the food was a joke, lunch was good but every meal time you had to pay for drinks including water ??. Overall for paying £116. this trip was poor and I wouldn’t recommend.

Nine to ten hours on a couch is too much for anyone. I was too exhausted to do anything the next day. Buyers should be warned of this and the condition on the site they are visiting. The old city was impressive, but Pamukkale was rammed with selfie takers and nearly all the pools were empty.

The journey from our hotel was far too long and when we got there the pools were not full as the picture shows, only to be told by the guide they fill them every 10days or so. This was not told to us by the inresort TUI rep Food - breakfast was shockingly bad. Lunch was ok at a very nice place and dinner was ok but not great same place as breakfast Overall I would not do this trip from our hotel felt sorry for the traveling from belek as they had even longer journey

14 hour day, breakfast only tea provided, we don’t drink tea only coffee this had to be paid for and was not enjoyable. We were not informed that Cleopatras Pool was closed, had we known this we would not have booked. Food overall was edible nothing outstanding.

Heading deep into the Anatolian countryside, you'll also visit Hierapolis, and stop en route at dazzling Lake Salda. Muzaffer, one of our expert guides, says, ‘Pamukkale is like something out of a fairytale – a spectacle of terraces formed over thousands of years that look like a cascading snowy waterfall. Legend has it, the hot thermal springs here have healing properties.'Leaving Antalya early in the morning, you'll arrive at Lake Salda after a few hours' scenic drive. It's been compared to the Maldives for its long white beaches and multi-toned blue waters. You'll have free time to take some photos of this otherworldly spot. Then we'll continue to Pamukkale for lunch. Afterwards, admire the bright white calcite terraces – they look like icy stalactites dripping from pools of sky-blue water.At the top of these travertines is Hierapolis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walk through the Byzantine Gate and marvel at the ruins as you stroll towards the vast bowl-shaped theatre. On the way back, you'll tuck into a tasty dinner in a forest restaurant, too. Full-day tour of Kekova, Myra and St Nicholas with boat trip

Authentic cuisine, a lost city and Santa – this trip offers an eclectic mix of attractions. You'll glide along the coast to Kekova island and its sunken town, then visit the church of St Nicholas and the ancient city of Myra. Ahmet, one of our expert local guides, says, ‘The highlight of the day for me has to be the ruined Lycian city of Myra. The rock-cut friezes carved with theatrical masks and the stacked tombs hewn into the cliffs are a unique sight. It still takes my breath away that parts of this site are thought to be around 2,500 years old.'Proceedings get under way with a scenic drive with a comfort stop at the Sahin Hill in Kumluca. Next, sail to Kekova island, a protected area famed for its underwater ruins. These are the relics of the ancient town of Simena, partially submerged by an earthquake in the 2nd century. There's time for a swim in the warmer months – the water is clear and inviting – it would be difficult to resist a dip in the sea. But if the weather doesn't permit a boat trip, there's a visit to the fascinating Demre museum instead.After a tasty lunch of typical dishes freshly prepared in a local restaurant, it's time to visit the Church of St Nicholas, who's better known today as Santa Claus. Finally, you'll have time to tour the site of the ancient city of Myra to explore the well-preserved amphitheatre and see the intricately carved rock tombs, high in the cliff face.
