Att göra – Speicherstadt
Speicherstadt, eller "lagerstad", är världens största historiska lagerdistrikt och ett av Hamburgs mest levande områden. Distriktet ligger i hamnen i Hamburg, inom HafenCity -kvarteret och som utnämdes till ett UNESCO-världsarv 2015 på tack vare dess unika byggnader, slingrande gator, kanaler och broar och dess betydelse i stadens historia.
Distriktet byggdes in i floden Elbe mellan 1883 och 1927 för att skapa en tullfri zon i hjärtat av en av Europas största hamnar. Lagren användes traditionellt för att lagra varor som kaffe, te, kakao, kryddor och tobak. Området har genomgått en period av ombyggnad men till denna dag används några av byggnaderna fortfarande som lager, främst för handel med mattor, bland annat gods.
Byggnaderna i nygotisk röd tegelarkitektur är förbundna med förgrenade kanaler som slingrar sig genom HafenCity-kvartalet. Ta en guidad rudtur och få inblick i en viktig del av stadens historia medan du beundrar byggnadernas imponerande arkitektur med sina gotiska torn, gavlar, valv och de många broar som korsar vattenvägarna.
Området är en populär turistattraktion, med fokus på hamnen eller rundturer till fots. Det finns också flera museer att besöka i området, liksom kaféer, butiker och restauranger. Att besöka distriktet på natten är också en värdefull upplevelse, byggnaderna belyses av strålkastare som reflekterar från vattenvägarna och skapar en romantisk atmosfär.
Du kan nå stadsdelen Speicherstadt med kollektivtrafik, U-Bahn-stationerna Baumwall (U3) och Meßberg (U1) ligger en kort promenad bort.
