Ting å gjøre i Hohensalzburg-festningen
Hohensalzburg-festningen rager høyest i den barokke byen Salzburg. Landemerket kan ses langveis fra, og slottet er en er umiskjennelig del av den verdenskjente bysilhuetten. Som det største fullstendig bevarte slottet i Sentral-Europa, tiltrekker festningen millioner av besøkende hvert år.
Erkebiskop Gebhard bygget fortet i 1077 for å beskytte sognet og erkebiskopene fra fiendtlige angrep. Rundt år 1500, under erkebiskop Leonhard von Keutschach, fikk slottet sitt nåværende utseende. I alle disse årene ble slottet aldri okkupert av fremmede styrker. Nå til dags kan turister besøke museene som Festningsmuseet, Marionettemuseet, Altes Zeughaus og Rainer-regiment-museet, eller spasere langs fortets kompakte murer og nyte den uforglemmelige utsikten over Salzburg.
