Retken kuvaus

Lounais-Kreetalla sijaitseva Elafonisin asumaton saari on täynnä luonnonkauneutta ja kulttuuririkkauksia. Topolian rotko, Agia Sofian luola, Chrissoskalitissan luostari ja ranta, jota monet pitävät saaren parhaana, ovat tämän päiväretken kohokohtia. Rena, yksi paikallisoppaistamme, kertoo: "Tällä retkellä yhdistyvät Kreetan ylängön parhaat puolet ja etelärannikon Elafonisin idyllinen vaaleanpunainen hiekkaranta".

Päivä alkaa rennosti nauttimalla kahvit perheomisteisessa tavernassa Voulgaron maalaiskylässä. Sen jälkeen teemme maisemallisen ajomatkan etelään Topolian rotkon läpi. Näkymät vasemmalle puolelle jäävästä syvästä rotkosta ovat eeppiset. Sitten saavumme Agia Sofian luolalle, joka on kuuluisa tippukivistään. Luola liitetään moniin legendoihin, ja sanotaan, että täältä löytyy Pyhän Yrjön hevosen kavionjälki. Jos katsot oikein tarkkaan, löydät kalliosta hevosenkengänjäljen näköisen jäljen. Seuraavaksi on vuorossa kukkulalle rakennettu Chrissoskalitissan luostari. Tämä 1 000 vuotta vanha luostari tarjoaa ajatonta charmia, ja sieltä on upeat näkymät alas rannikolle.
