Retken kuvaus

Matkusta ajassa taaksepäin tällä yksityisellä puolen päivän retkellä antiikin aikaisiin Pergan ja Aspendoksen kaupunkeihin. Nähtävyyksien joukkoon kuuluu muun muassa ehkä parhaiten säilynyt roomalainen teatteri.

Ensimmäisenä vierailet klassisessa Pergan kaupungissa. Tämä aikoinaan vilkas roomalainen satamakaupunki perustettiin noin 1300 eaa., ja se oli Paavalin ensimmäinen pysähdyspaikka hänen Välimerta kiertävillä lähetysmatkoillaan. Pääset kiertelemään ja ihailemaan oppaan johdolla raunioituneita temppeleitä, toria ja suihkulähteitä. Pylväiden reunustamalla pääkadulla voit jopa nähdä vaunujen pyörien tekemät urat laattakivissä. Siellä on myös 12 000-paikkainen stadion ja pronssikautisen akropolin rauniot.

Seuraavaksi lähdemme Aspendokseen katsomaan yhtä antiikin parhaiten säilyneistä teattereista. 2000 vuotta vanha teatteri on rakennettu jyrkkään rinteeseen, ja sinne mahtuu 15 000 ihmistä. Se on tunnettu erinomaisesta akustiikastaan ja siellä pidetään yhä nykyäänkin oopperoita ja konsertteja.
