Retken kuvaus

Matka Troodos-vuorille on kuin matkaisi toiseen Kyprokseen. Vanhat perinteet ovat yhä voimissaan kivisissä maalaiskylissä, jotka pilkottavat keskellä vihreitä laaksoja. Tämä retki vie sinut vuoriston hengelliseen sydämeen, Kýkkoksen luostariin, sekä ylös Throni-vuorelle. Alexia, yksi paikallisoppaistamme, kertoo: "Kykkoksessa sijaitsevaa Neitsyt Marian ikonia pidetään ihmeellisenä, joten kyproslaisten on tärkeää vierailla kirkossa vähintään kerran vuodessa."

Ensimmäinen pysähdyspaikkasi on Kýkkoksen luostari. Kykkos-vuorella sijaitseva luostari on täynnä kultaisia ikoneita ja freskoja sekä muita uskonnollisia aarteita. Täältä löytyy myös Neitsyt Marian ikoni, jota pidetään suojassa – se on nähty viimeksi satoja vuosia sitten. Sinulla on myös vapaata aikaa kuljeskella alueella ja nauttia panoraamanäkymästä vuorille. Lisäksi autat vierailullasi tämän tärkeän kulttuuriperintökohteen säilyttämisessä.

Sitten on aika suunnata vuorille arkkipiispa Makarios III:n haudalle, jota ympäröivät upeat näkymät. Matka jatkuu alas Pedoulasin kylään, jossa nautit perheomisteisessa ravintolassa kyproslaisen lounaan, joka on valmistettu paikallisista raaka-aineista. Lounaan jälkeen voit lähteä valinnaiselle kävelyretkelle koristeelliseen Pyhän ristin ortodoksikirkkoon, minkä jälkeen pysähdymme vielä kahvilla Pano Platresissa ennen paluuta hotelliin.
