Retken kuvaus

Kypros on täynnä kätkettyjä helmiä, joista osan näet tällä kokopäiväretkellä Troodos-vuoristoon. Ajat maaseudulle, vierailet Lampadistisin luostarissa Kalopanayiotiksessa ja nautit muutamista miellyttävistä yllätyksistä maalaiskylissä. Nefeli, yksi paikallisoppaistamme, kertoo: "Arsos on sellainen kylä, jossa näet vanhoja miehiä pelaamassa 'tavlia' eli backgammonia kahviloissa."

Ensimmäinen kohde on Platanisteia - pieni kylä, joka on kuuluisa taidegrafiikkamuseostaan. Kun olemme saaneet kuulla saaren taidegrafiikan historiasta, matka jatkuu kauniille Tzelefos-sillalle, joka on loistava kuvauspaikka. Sitten vuorossa on syrjäisessä laaksossa sijaitseva Kalopanayiotiksen kylä, jonka läpi virtaa viehättävä puro. Täällä pistäydyt perinteisessä perheomisteisessa tavernassa nauttimassa lounaan, joka on valmistettu paikallisista raaka-aineista.

Päivän kohokohta on Lampadistisin luostari. "Sen bysanttilaiset freskot ovat niin hienoja, että Unesco on listannut ne maailmanperintöluetteloon", Nefeli kertoo. Jopa 1300-luvulta peräisin olevat seinämaalaukset ovat erittäin hyvin säilyneitä. Luostarin sisäänpääsymaksu, joka sisältyy hintaan, käytetään luostarin ylläpitoon. Kolmen kirkon lisäksi luostarin alueella on useita rakennuksia, kuten vankikoppeja, lisähuoneita ja öljypuristamo. Afternoon Tour to Agios Neophytos Monastery with Wine Tasting

If you can tear yourself away from the sun-kissed beaches of Paphos for an afternoon, this adults-only tour is just right for you. You'll venture to Ayios Neophytos Monastery for a look around, before heading to the village of Kathikas for a spot of wine tasting. What's more, you'll have both the morning and evening to yourself, arriving back just in time for dinner.First up is a visit to the Ayios Neophytos Monastery. It's here you'll find the Enklistra, a unique chapel carved into the mountainside by the founder of the monastery.
