Retken kuvaus

Tällä maastoautoseikkailulla tutustut rannikon helmiin, villiin metsään ja vastuullisiin tuottajiin, näet Madeiran dramaattiset maisemat läheltä ja opit saaren kulttuurista. Ruben, yksi paikallisista asiantuntijaoppaistamme, sanoo: "Valmistaudu oppimaan ponchan valmistuksen salaisuudet. Poncha on saarelaisten rakastama juoma, joka valmistetaan sokeriruokorommista, tuoreesta mehusta ja paikallisesta hunajasta. Ole kuitenkin varovainen – ponchan hedelmäinen, virkistävä maku kätkee sisäänsä kunnon potkun."

Aloitat retken Ponta do Solista, ja 1400 metrin korkeudella merenpinnan yläpuolella sijaitsevasta Paul da Serrasta, josta avautuvat upeat näkymät etelärannikolle. Sitten matka jatkuu Fanaliin, jossa kasvaa saaren vanhimmat laakeripuut. Ruben sanoo: "Madeiralla sijaitsee maailman suurin yhtenäinen laurisilvametsän alue. Joidenkin puiden uskotaan olevan noin 800 vuotta vanhoja, ja ekosysteemi on suurelta osin koskematon. Näissä Unescon maailmanperintökohteeksikin listatuissa metsissä elää noin 100 endeemistä lajia."

Kuljet "poios"-terassiviljelmien ohi matkalla Seixalin rannalle uimaan, ennen kuin suuntaamme Chão da Ribeiraan nauttimaan maukkaan lounaan. Keittiömestari Sérgio näyttää sinulle, miten valmistetaan klassinen grillattu naudanlihavarras, joka tunnetaan portugaliksi nimellä espetada, samalla kun nautit aperitiivina lasillisen madeiralaista viiniä. Tarjolla on myös vegaaninen hampurilainen. Kierroksen päätteeksi käymme São Vicentessä tapaamassa luomuhunajan tuottajaa. Man sollte vielleicht darauf hinweisen, dass es zünftig zur Sache geht. Die Fahrzeuge sind nicht die neuesten und die Strecke kann auch wirklich nur von Allradfahrzeugen bewältigt werden. Wer da mehr Komfort erwartet und nich auf Abenteuer-Feeling steht, wird vielleicht enttäuscht Das Essen war besser als erwartet. Die Guides waren top drauf, haben Fragen beantwortet (auf englisch) und hatten viel Spaß an ihrem Job. Für uns ein gelungener Ausflug.

Diese Tour war einsame Spitze, würde ich immer wieder Buchen unser Fahrer war Super entspannt und hat uns zum Teil mit viel Humor sehr viele Interessante informationen gegeben. Einziger kleiner Nachteil war dass die Tour in unserem Wagen in englisch war, unser Fahrer hat aber sehr gut und verständlich gesprochen. Das essen in diesem kleinen Restaurant war Spitze und auch an Getränken gab es eine Gute Auswahl welche immer wieder aufgefüllt wurde so dass es an nichts gefehlt hat.

The whole experience to see some of the island was an eye opener, especially the visit to the honey farm and the barbecue setting.The guide “John”explained everything and found a small step to help my wife get in and out of the Land Rover easily as she is waiting for a knee replacement .

Wir hatten Tour gebucht bei der uns vom Tui Mitarbeiter ein deutschsprachiger Guide versprochen wurde.leider wurde uns auf der gesamten Tour nicht ein Wort auf deutsch erklärt. Auf Englisch hätten wir die Tour auch wo anders zum halben Preis buchen können. Aber so sehen wahrscheinlich die Touren aus die ausschließlich von tui angeboten werden.

Decouverte de jolis paysages mais de courte durée, par rapport au temps très long ,passé en 4x4. Le resto du midi bon, mais un peu tristounet et le "musée" du miel inutile. Heureusement, nous avons eu un guide sympathique; merci à Luis.

Nat Geo Day Tour: Local Farm Experience on Madeira’s Terraced Hills

Drive through Funchal's bustling town and Madeira's magnificent rolling hills towards Quinta Pedagogica da Camacha, a small farm committed to sustainable agriculture. Here, your National Geographic-trained guide will offer insights into the region and introduce you to the farm's owner, Bruno Santos. Having left accounting for agriculture, Bruno now dedicates his life to helping his neighborhood through sustainable farming, a lowered environmental footprint, and community outreach. Madeira's magnificent scenery takes centre stage on this full day tour. You'll visit a selection of highlights including Cabo Girao Cliff and it's glass-floored platform, Porto Moniz and Paúl da Serra. Mariana, one of our expert local guides, says "you'll get to know the true drama of Madeira's landscapes. You might be lucky enough to see the ocean both to the north and the south, but the highest points on the island do sometimes catch the clouds."Your first destination will be the Cabao Girao Cliff, where you can step out onto its glass-floored platform that stretches out over the edge. The coastal views here are some of the best around, so don't forget your camera. Mariana adds, "the cliff is around 580 metres high, making it one of the tallest in Europe. The views from the skywalk are really something else, and its experience that'll stick with you." Then, you'll head to the coastal town of Riberia Brava, before a stroll through a banana plantation in Madalena do Mar.Next, we'll head up the 1,500m-high Paúl da Serra plateau before descending on Porto Moniz, famous for its natural lava rock swimming pools. Next, you'll visit the village of Machico for a look around. When the island was discovered in 1419 by Portuguese explorers, this is where they first landed.Heading off-road towards the north, you'll zigzag through an ancient laurel forest – a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999 – on scenic trails towards the mountain town of Santana to see its steep-roofed, straw-thatched homes. After a well-deserved lunch break in a typical local restaurant, you'll round off with a pit stop at a nearby viewpoint, offering knockout coastal panoramas all the way to Madeira's easternmost point, the São Lourenço peninsula.
