Ancient Kourion, Kolossi Castle, Omodos & Winery Tour from Limassol

Cyprus is all rolling hills dotted with pretty villages. On this adults-only tour, you'll see where a legend was born, visit the ruins of Kourion, venture to the village of Omodos and cap off the day with a wine tasting. Eva, one of our local guides, says of this excursion, ‘You'll wander through layers of history, culture and mythology.'You'll dive straight into the past at Kourion, one of the most impressive archaeological sites in Cyprus. Visit the Roman baths and amble into the site's centrepiece, the Greco-Roman theatre. Concerts are still held to this day. While the mosaics of the trio of excavated houses known as those of Eustolius, the Gladiators and Achilles are as impressive as when they were laid down. The 15th-century Kolossi Castle is up next. This steeped-in-legend Crusader-built fortress is nowadays surrounded by blooming plants. Then, we'll head for a local lunch in a family-run taverna before visiting mountain-fringed Omodos where you'll wander around skinny cobbled streets lined with Byzantine buildings. It's Eva's favourite village. She says, ‘The charm of the stone houses, the tranquillity and peace. It's as if it has sprung from a fairytale. I love dropping into one of the cafés and seeing locals have philosophical discussions, political arguments and a bit of gossip.' To finish, there's a wine tasting session, where you'll learn all about sweet commandaria wine – one of the oldest varieties in the world.

Pafos Zoo Visit & Blue Lagoon Cruise with Local Guide

Blue Lagoon, gorge and beach tour by boat and 4x4 in Akamas

On this trip, you'll explore the Akamas peninsula by land and sea. And, rather than your typical coach set-up, you'll be in a 4x4 vehicle. The area is known for its natural beauty, so you're in for a real treat. Your day begins at Avakas Gorge, perhaps Cyprus' most impressive natural wonder, with a half-hour walk through its deep canyon with sheer walls of limestone that form a natural, narrow tunnel. Other star turns include Lara Beach, where a turtle conservation project has been protecting sea turtles for decades, a meze-style lunch at Latchi harbour, and then a boat trip to the Blue Lagoon where you can take a dip in water so clear you'll see your toes.

Southern Nicosia walking tour with a local guide

See the sights of southern Nicosia, the last divided capital in the world, on this guided walking tour. Your first stop is St John's Cathedral, built in the Franco-Byzantine style unique to Cyprus, with a simple brick exterior. The inside, however, tells a completely different story, with its ornate chandeliers and gilded woodwork showing off 18th century Cypriot craftsmanship . Afterwards, you'll visit the Cyprus Folk Art Museum, housed in the old Archbishopric Palace. Next, you'll enter the Venetian city walls to stroll through Laiki Geitonia. Here, you can get a feel for the old Nicosia as you tour the winding streets – you'll feel like you're visiting a little village rather than the heart of a city as you pass by all the traditionally restored houses. Stroll along with your guide and listen to tales of the city's history before some free time to have lunch and a wander around the shops on Ledra Street – named after the ancient kingdom of Ledra, which was located where Nicosia now stands.

Argonaftis Cyprus Traditional Experience

A chance to explore the rustic side of Cyprus. On this family-friendly tour, you'll discover the remote Xeros valley on the back of a donkey. Pass through picturesque orange groves and quaint villages as you and your trusted donkey amble to the historic Sinti Monastery. You'll also taste local specialities and enjoy a performance of traditional music and dancing.Your laid-back adventure kicks off at Argonaftis donkey farm in Kelokedara. Here, you'll experience Cypriot hospitality at its best. Savour local favourites, including halloumi cheese and – if you're brave enough – zivania fire-water.After instruction, you'll hop on to your donkey and head slowly – or ‘siga, siga' as the locals say – up the Xeros valley to the 16th century Sinti Monastery. The complex fell into disrepair and abandonment but is back to its original best after an award-winning restoration. Then, back at the farm, you'll round off the experience with a barbecue meal, washed down with wine. There'll be traditional music and dancing, too.

Akamas Peninsula 4x4 Winter Tour

There's only one way to explore Cyprus's last wilderness – in a 4x4 vehicle. This off-road adventure will take you on a bumpy ride through the rugged Akamas peninsula. You'll get to see the wildlife-rich Avakas Gorge and Lara Bay, visit Port Latchi and the mythical Baths of Aphrodite. An action-packed day.Home to more than 160 species of birds and almost 40 species of plants, the entire peninsula is a national park. There are no main roads – just dirt tracks and pathways. The fun kicks off with a drive to the giant limestone walls of the Avakas Gorge. Next up is Lara Bay. This very remote spot – even by Akamas peninsula standards – is home to a breeding station for protected green turtles.It's time to rev up the engine again for a trip to Port Latchi. Then, in the afternoon you'll visit the Baths of Aphrodite. Legend has it that the Greek goddess of love used to bathe here with her lover, Adonis. Legend also has it that the waters have magical rejuvenating properties.
