Retken kuvaus

Kävelykenkäsi saattavat joutua koetukselle tällä Samarian rotkon läpi kulkevalla vaelluksella. Tämä 16 kilometriä pitkä rotko on Euroopan pisin. Kyseessä on siis vaativa – mutta vaikuttava – noin kuuden tunnin vaellus, joka ei sovi huonokuntoisille tai heikkohermoisille.

Sinut viedään ensin autolla Valkoisten vuorten läpi lähtöpisteelle – Xyloskalon portaille, jotka laskeutuvat noin 200 metriä alas rotkoon. Ohitat pieniä kappeleita, kävelet rotkon korkeiden seinämien välissä ja saatat nähdä myös Kreetan villejä "kri-kri"-vuohia. Vaelluksen kohokohta on kuitenkin "Rautaportit" – rotkon kapein kohta, jossa 300 metriä korkeat muurit ovat vain kolmen metrin päässä toisistaan.

Vaellus päättyy Agia Roumelin rantakylään, jossa voit käydä uimassa tai rentoutua tavernassa, jos olet ehtinyt sinne hyvissä ajoin. Kun kaikki ovat valmiita, lähdemme laivalla seilaamaan rannikkoa pitkin kohti rannalla odottavaa bussia. Tämä retki sopii erinomaisesti ulkoilmaihmisille.
